About Me

My dog as an Otaku omnivore? Nah, it's just an excuse to show off a cute doggy pic.

Thank you for visiting my small corner of the Internet. I’m Jin Stevens, a long time denizen of the corporate rat race, a relatively recent devotee to the art of blogging. I’m a fan of games, anime and a lot of things related to Geek culture, and I hope to share this interest with the readers of this site. So a few highlights:

  • Rolled a cleric as my first character with the red box edition of Dungeons & Dragons. That’s pre-first edition where Elves and Dwarves were character classes not races.
  • The first computer video game I remember playing is Zork. I played it over at my uncle’s on his Heathkit. I was completely underwhelmed by it. The first video game I remember playing in earnest was Doom.
  • I watched Star Wars for the very first time in 1976 and knew that it would be something that I had to go see again and again.  Little would I know that Lucas would later tarnish my childhood memories forever by producing the Phail Menace.
  • The only comic I read in my adolescence that left any impression on me was Rom Space Knight.
  • I managed to free up enough conventional memory to play MechWarrior on a Pentium 133 PC. I ended up creating a dual boot configuration that allowed me to either play MechWarrior or run Ipswitch’s TCP/IP (TCP/IP was a protocol that you had to buy in those days), but not both.
  • I installed and logged onto Ultimate Online when I worked after hours as a PC tech (Associate Desktop Engineer lol) for NIKE. Two minutes into the game my character, armed with a stick and hunting rabbits in the forest, was ganked and left naked by a tankmage who managed to kill me in about 5 seconds. Still, I was hooked.
  • I admit I have a soft spot for Maria-sama ga Miteru.
  • I played City of Heroes for about two years, from retail release to issue 8. I’ve played World of Warcraft for about a month.
  • The game I’ve probably played the longest from the time I bought it is Diablo II. I never got tired of hunting for uniques. My favorite class combinations: orb - lightning sorceress and javazon.

Anyways, please make yourself at home. I’m eager to make your acquaintance and talk about just about anything science fiction or fantasy related.  If you like what I write, go ahead and subscribe.  Again, thanks for visiting.
