Tauntaun sleeping bag
Wow. It’s cute, cool and disgusting all at the same time. It’s cute because watching a little one snuggle into their favorite animal character sleeping bag is never un-cute. It’s cool, because if you’re a Star Wars fan, you’re impressed how well made that Tauntaun is; it doesn’t hurt that the little tyke is cosplaying Luke. It’s disgusting because if you remember the film, Luke was stuffed into the body cavity of a dead Tauntaun after Han disemboweled it and pulled all the guts out of it - possibly the grossest scene in the Star Wars franchise. It doesn’t help that the sleeping bag lining looks like entrails.
By the way, you can actually buy this if you want - it’s $39.99. Maybe a must-have for a true Star Wars fan?

Star Trek porn parody

So apparently, Hustler magazine, is hoping the cash in on the upcoming Star Trek film by making a porn parody of it, and releasing it on the same day. When it was first announced, the movie hadn’t even been cast yet, but getting a cast together and assembling a few props doesn’t seem to be much of a barrier for a porn filmmaker. As Io9 reports, the casting seems complete. Read more
One cool D&D resume

Haha. I love creative resumes even though I’ve rarely seen one in my 14+ years of corporate life. This one would definitely earn an interview from me. I would have a few pointed questions for him though, like why his Artist Block Saving Throw is so low and whether or not he really has a tumbling skill of 15?
Anyway, Sean, if you’re out there, good luck on your job search!
Star Wars Paso Doble
It’s amusing to see Star Wars music put to different mediums. I’m no judge of ballroom dance, but I think the two did pretty well. I just wish they got the lore right. I wonder if the two dancers know that Darth Vader and Princess Leia are father and daughter and sort of an inappropriate pairing for a passionate Latin dance. Anyways, take a look at the video:

Mutant Chronicles

I heard about Mutant Chronicles, a movie based on a pen and paper RPG, a little while ago. I honestly didn’t pay much attention, reserving my time anticipating films like Watchmen, Star Trek and Terminator Salvation. I actually played Mutant Chronicles for a night back in the 90s. I don’t remember much of the game other than the fact that my character died really fast. Read more
Star Wars My Little Pony
That’s the sexiest My Little Pony figure I’ve ever seen. The slave Leia pony and the others below are the work of Mari Kasurinen who’s done a number of My Little Pony Star Wars adaptations. I’ve picked a few that I really liked, but definitely go check out her deviantART page or her website for more adaptations.
I’m particularly found of Carbonite Han Pony below:

Jed I Knight

Geeky parents can do a lot of mean things to their kids. Apparently (don’t know if this is true or not, since I wasn’t able to verify it), this boy’s name is the groantastic, Jed I Knight. I’ve met some people in my time with some fairly unfortunate names: Shanda Lear, Krystal Ball, Harold “Harry” Bottoms. However, this one ranks up there naming your kid Bruce Lee or Chuck Norris. I’m sure some bullies out there will just get a kick of beating up a real life “Jedi”.
While I think the naming choice is horrible, there’s some folks who disagree. The folks at the Star Wars blog labeled the name (sarcastically I think) as a win. The folks at Failblog who broke the story obviously thinks the name is a fail.
So what do you think?
Terminator ending redone

So if you’ve been paying attention to spoilers on the Internet, there’s been significant leaks about about the ending of new Terminator Salvation movie. The big reveal from the movie was supposed to be that John Connor (Christian Bale’s character) dies and that Marcus, the good terminator, takes up the mantle of John Connor and fights on behalf of humans, realizing that John Connor’s death would be a crushing blow.
Well that ending isn’t going to be the one used. According to Movie Hole, a new ending for the movie was shot because of the Internet leaks. The new ending is supposedly 180 degrees different (whatever that means) from the leaked ending and has supposedly tested better with audiences. I’m sure that will launch a new round of speculation about what the new reveal for the movie will be.
I’m looking forward to this movie a little more now since my imagination is now running wild with potential endings.

Spaceship comparison
Gizmodo had an interesting picture that demonstrated the relative size of the International Space Station compared to a number of space craft from popular science fiction. It’s pretty interesting (a Battlestar is huge!), so I decided to do one better and give you the relative stats of each ship.
Colonial Viper (new series)
- Size: 8.7 meters
- Max occupants: 1
- Max speed for Mark II: Mach 32.5 in atmosphere, no effective top speed in space, no jump drive for interstellar travel. Top acceleration possible: 7 G.
- Max speed for Mark VII: Mach 32.5 in atmosphere, no effective top speed in space, no jump drive for interstellar travel. Top acceleration possible: 9 G.
International Space Station
- Size: 107.4 meters
- Max occupants: 8
- Max speed: 7.7 km / sec in a low orbit around the earth
Corellian Corvette
- Size: 150 meters
- Max occupants: up to 600 depending on configuration
- Max speed: 2100 G, capable of light speed
USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-A)
- Size: 288.6 meters
- Max occupants: typical crew complement was 400; maximum occupancy unknown
- Max speed: warp 9, but typically warp 6. NCC-1701-A achieved warp 14 in one rare instance.
Battlestar Galactica (new series)
- Size: 615 meters
- Max occupants: crew complement is 2641; maximum occupancy unknown
- Max speed: Faster than light speed
Sci Fi becomes SyFy
March 17, 2009 by Jin

Sometimes you just have to shake your head at the so-called image makers. Someone thought it was a good idea to rebrand the Sci Fi Channel as SyFy. As soon as the news was announced, a collective ‘ugh, that’s awful’ could be heard around the Internet. The renaming has good intentions. ‘Sci fi’ couldn’t be trademarked owing to the fact that it has been in collective use for decades. Further, you can’t argue with the fact that SyFy is pretty unique, distinguishing it from a host of other cable channel names. At the same time, it’s somewhat similar to the old name.
However, good intentions haven’t stopped the scorn that’s been heaped on the name change. A writer at Cnet called the change “perhaps the most ill-advised branding move since New Coke.” Gawker commented that the network’s new tagline, Imagine Greater, “means nothing and is grammatically incoherent.” Ouch.
