The country of Iran has curiously produced a video game based on Shanameh or The Book of Kings, written by the Persian poet Ferdowsi. According to the Tehran Times, the Ferdowsi Foundation proposed the initial concept and Iran’s Modern Industry Center produced the game.
The game, produced by Iranian “experts”, revives the Iranian culture and traditions of championship with the help of good deeds and decency. It’s an interesting concept for a country which still uses stoning as means of execution.
The game features locations based on Iran’s culture, geography and climate and use Persian music and depicts characters in traditional costumes. It also incorporates over ninety legendary figures based on Shahnameh. The user must make use of various kinds of weaponry to fight against the evil characters of the story in order to learn the secret of invulnerability.
The Ferdowsi Federation intends to launch the game as “an Iranian cultural production” in several Persian-speaking countries.
