Sheva Resident Evil 5 costume

Shiva costume Like the previous versions before it, Resident Evil 5 sports unlockable costumes. Sheva, the female protagonist, can be fitted with a costume that pays tribute (or depending on your viewpoint, exploits) her West African heritage. The tribal costume is decidedly different than the typical school girl uniform or bikinis that are the commonly used in similar games. Who knows, maybe more “traditional” fare will show up as future downloadable content.

I really like her African costume; however, I’m a little worried that the sexy unlockable duds will spawn the Resident Evil 5 is racist issue all over again. Get over it people. Would it been better if the protagonist had been blond and white skinned? Further, female gaming heroines have been clad in a lot worse. Sheva’s jungle girl outfit is actually tame in comparison to others I’ve seen.
