Morning mashup

Welcome to the Morning Mashup, a collection of the weird, the unusual, the funny or just plain interesting. Or simply what I smash together when I don’t have anything better to write about.
We start off first with a picture of Chun Li (Kristen Kreuk) confronted by a man who’s more Chun Li than she is. See Kristen kick his butt (at least in sort of a girly way) here.

Kristen looks hot. Too bad the man on the right looks more like Chun-Li than she'll ever look.
Fear 2 developer has announced a new cost cutting measure: using cats instead of people. Best yet, they’re paid in catnip. That sure beats getting eaten.

Aw, it's cute. Not scary at all.
No more Mortal Kombat for the near term. Midway just announced chapter 11 bankrupcy. In more bad economic news. NCSoft (makers of City of Heroes, Tabula Rasa, Aion) announced layoffs this week.
In sort of the bad news turns to good news category, Blizzard Activision didn’t make as much money as they thought they should, so they have announced the release of one marquee title per year. I think that means Starcraft 2 will be out earlier than expected.

Hello Kitty Online added a number of changes that would prevent would-be pedophiles from preying on its presumably young user base. At least they're honest about the possibility.
Lots of goodies have been posted on the web in anticipation of St. Valentine’s Day. If you’ve ever had a hankering to try Hello Kitty Online, they’ll open doors this February 14. Yes, it’s a real game. If your gaming tastes are a tad darker, head over to the Fallen Earth forums and use their custom Valentine’s Day card maker (you have to register to use it). Send it to the gamers you love, because 1 in ten Valentines card recipients also get an invite to the Fallen Earth closed beta. Blizzard announced three Valentine’s Day wallpapers. I kind of like the Protoss one below. See them here.

Definitely send it to the Starcraft fan closest to your heart.
Want to send your love something truly unique? Send them a box of chocolate beetles. Sadly, they’re only available in Japan.

Nothing says I love you more than chocolate bugs
Just in time for Valentines, this cute picture was included in a scantilated edition of the manga To Love-Ru. If you want to take the Miss To Love-Ru poll, go here.

Looking for love but you aren’t the most socially adept. If you’re in the Chicago area, you’re in luck. If you’re not, well…guess you might have to move there or die a virgin. ;) Just don’t go looking for it online in a MMO. There’s too much weirdness there and honestly, you never know who’s behind that cute mage in the chain mail bikini.
Finishing up with some odds and ends.
Square Enix moves to buy Eidos, opening up some interesting cross over possibilities of seeing Lara Croft in the next Final Fantasy.

Peace out and have a nice weekend folks! ~Jin
