Zero Suit - Samus AranI usually don’t feature cosplay on this site. It’s not really my interest, though I appreciate it when it’s well done. However, I’m making an exception for these two cosplayers who dress as Samus Aran of Metroids fame extremely well. How well? Well one of them crafted her custom Metroid armor over 6 months with a material cost of $350! The costume weighs 23 pounds and lit by 73 battery powered LEDs. That’s dedication to your hobby. Model Angela Filipiak, who poses topless to advertise for Electronic Art's Need for Speed.

One of the oldest techniques in advertising is to use a sexy girl to sell a product. However, there are times when using sex appeal to sell a product is a bit over the top. In 2007, Electronic Arts was roundly criticized for using a pair of topless models, Becky Rule and Amii Grove, to sell Need for Speed, their Teen rated racing game. Facing harsh criticism, Electronic Arts withdrew the ad and apologized for their mistake, stating only that the ad escaped their vetting process.

Well, it looks like their vetting process needs some refinement, because they’ve done it again. This time they’ve used model Angelia Filipiak (aka Triana Iglesias) in yet another topless advertisement for the latest game in their Need for Speed series. No word from EA as of yet if they regret it this time too.

COH: Mission Architect

City of HeroesWith issue 14, the City of Heroes franchise will be rolling out a new feature called Mission Architect. This feature has received quite a bit of press lately since it may be the first time that you’ll be able to create your own missions (everything from designing levels to customizing enemies) in a MMO. Sure, there have been level editors in other games, notably first person shooters, but having this feature built into a massively multiplayer game is unique. Further, the best content could win the author a bit of fame or even notoriety since developed missions can be made public and shared. Read more

EVE Online trial reviewed

EVE OnlineAn online game trial should show off enough of the enticing features of a game and hook a player’s interest in subscribing. It’s important that the game not only make an effort to help the player learn the game reasonably enough to play but also welcome her to the community of other players. I think EVE Online does a pretty decent job at doing that. I downloaded my trial version about 9 days ago, so I have 5 days left until the game subscription expires. Overall, I had a lot of fun playing; however, I won’t be subscribing (more on that later). Read more

It seems the Japanese enjoy poking fun at their politicians as much as Americans do. Following Finance Minister Shoichi Nakagawa’s “impressive” performance at the G7 economic conference where he was apparently drunk and nodding off, LiveWire Inc. has produced a game immortalizing the moment forJapanese mobile phones.

In Drowsy Presser by Drugged Minister players can wake Nakagawa as he fields questions at the press conference, or allow him to sneak in short naps to build up his energy levels. You win points by having Nakagawa answer journalists’ questions on time, but the game ends if the minister sleeps while he is being asked a question.

The game is available for download for 52 yen (55 cents) on all major Japanese mobile phone carriers. Shoichi Nakagawa resigned last week, blaming the incident on cough medicine and jet lag.

Take a look at Mr. Nakagawa performance at the G7 event (Japanese):

left-resized1Yup. I’m totally going to go there. When I first heard about a porno based on the video game Left 4 Dead, my curiosity was piqued so I had to go look for it. Well, curiosity killed the cat lol. What a terrible porno! Honestly, if you’re of age, and you’re looking for pr0n, you can find better. Way, way better.  I won’t post the link because you can find it yourself by just typing ‘Left 4 Head’ into Google. Read more

Chiaki Kuriyama as Gogo YubariJapanese actress Chiaki Kuriyama stars in a commercial for Capcom’s Resident Evil 5. Kuriyama who is well known for her portrayal of Gogo Yubari in the Kill Bill movie series, has been a long time fan of the video game series. The clip is amusing and I’m sure that if you just happen to get Chiaki-san to your house all you’ll do is play video games with her. Read more

No Street Fighter for critics

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun LiHa! I knew it. According to Variety, film critics will not get an advance screening of  Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li.. That’s usually not a good sign for a film, and pretty much indicates that the production company expects that critics will be unkind to the film. It’s not as if a lot of people didn’t see this coming. Read more

Starcraft 2 Hydralisk

New Starcraft 2 unit art has been posted on Battle.net, and the improvement in some key units are amazing. This is expected since the original Starcraft was released almost a decade ago, and advances have been made in both computer aided animation and 3D modeling. The new pictures show before and after shots. The left shows what the unit looks like before, and the right shows how they’re probably (things can change drastically before production release) going to look in the game.

I’m really looking forward to this game and from all accounts, the first part of the game should hit our shelves in the second half of this year. A few more of the more noteworth pictures: Read more
